To let you in on the past couple of days...well let's just say, "I am ready for SPRING BREAK." No big plans for us. It'll just be some time to rest and play! This year I'll be staying "white." The beach will have to wait.

My new favorite picture...

There is nothing more precious than after a long day with 20 children walking in to pick up your little one. Today when I picked up Wyatt from Mrs. Pam's house, I walked in the door and said, "Hi!" Wyatt came running at full speed and yelled, "Mama, Mama!" I knelt down and picked him up as he came crashing into my arms. He looked me straight in the face and said his 2 syllable Texas "Hi!" What a great way to come home.

The power of a child...

Today Wyatt went to school with me for an hour. His sitter is sick, and Chris had a conference call this morning. So, Wyatt went with me and then I brought him home and Chris watched him the rest of the day.

At school, there was a student in ISS. He was sitting in the Assistant Principal's office with his head slumped down on his desk discouraged and well probably trying to go to sleep. I walked in and asked this child if he could do me a favor. I already have a relationship with this student. I taught him in the 1st grade and he is now is 6th grade. He lives with his Great Aunt if that is any help to his background and home life. He looked up and said, "Oh, hey Mrs. Grubbs." I needed to go into my principal's office to help with some paperwork for TAKS. I asked this child if he could read to Wyatt while I met with our principal. He looked at me and smiled. I told Wyatt that he could read his books to this boy. As soon as I set Wyatt down he ran over to the boy and reached up with both arms and climbed into his lap. It was the most precious sight I had every seen. The boy and Wyatt sat and read books for about 30 minutes. I later took in blocks and crayons. They played with blocks, drew pictures, and read stories for an hour and a half. The boy who was discouraged about life was brought a ray of sunshine through my little one today. Christ said, "Let the little children come unto me." How precious to watch the power of God in your child reach out to brighten the day and life of another.

Chris and I had a great weekend in Abilene. We went to ACU's Sing Song performance. We hadn't been back since I graduated. This time though, I attended in regular clothes rather than a Minnie Mouse costume. We stayed with the Beard's. They are such great friends. We always have a nice time with them. Erica had been blessed by God with the gift of hospitality and Cary is always so thoughtful. We each enjoyed our weekend of adult time!

Wyatt spent the weekend at Granny & Gramps house. He loves to go over there because he always gets to go to the barn and pet ZaZa otherwise known as Zack. Our pony, Zack, has been around for many years. He is 28 and still hanging in there. He is on his 2nd generation of riders! Wyatt had a great time.

On Monday, I took Wyatt to the Doctor. He has an ear infection is both ears and maybe that is our answer as to why he has not been sleeping through the night. He seems to be responding to the medicine and should be better in a few days!

Today was the Writing TAKS for my 4th graders. I just hate the pressure that is put on teachers and students. I believe there should be some form of accountability but when you have your smartest child still at school at 4:45pm frustrated there is something that is not right about the situation. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY proud of each of my students and I know they all did their best. I just wish there could be some other way. In reflecting on today, I tell my students that they should end their writing with a "truism" otherwise known as a saying. So here is mine for today and my students favorite..."All is well that ends well."

Last night, I went to dinner with some of my lifelong friends. It was GREAT! We had so much fun. Those girls are such an inspiration everytime I am around them. They challenge me spiritually, allow me to reflect on my own personal life and challenge me to be a better person, we laugh, we remember, and we have fun. I thank God for putting special women in my life like them. I love our dinner dates!

Today is Valentine's Day and Chris is sick. He has a cold. No fever, but it is moving to his chest and that isn't the best. We are suppose to go to Abilene this weekend for Sing Song. I hope he feels better soon. Wyatt's day was special too. He shared Valentine cars with his buddies and tomorrow we are sending his Valentine cars and cupcakes to school. :) Better late than never!

In other news, Chris heard from HR today at Sprint. He received the official word today that his last day to work at Sprint will be March 30, 2007. It's been a good eleven years so he will enjoy his 30 weeks of pay that he has coming. Thank you all for your prayers I know that God will guide Chris to his next career and we would appreciate your prayers about this exciting change.

To all of you...happy valentine's day! Hugs!

February 12, 2007

Today Wyatt went to school. I felt like such a bad mom. My husband calls me and says we didn't send Wyatt's valentines to school today. I thought they were celebrating on Thursday. We went weeks ago and found these cool valentines with little cars for his friends at school and this yummy cake mix with a heart shape tin to make cupcakes. I was all ready for Wyatt's first Valentine party at school and I missed it. What a crazy mom I am. So, on Thursday if you see my little one with his Valentine cards and cupcakes you'll know why.

Also, the shower on Saturday went great. It is so fun to see others being blessed who totally deserve it. I just loved the chocolate fountains and that is my new number one item on my wish list. It was great to see some of my friends that I hadn't seen in awhile. It is always good to catch up.

Tomorrow, I am going to dinner with some lifelong friends. I have known one of them since 5th grade. The other 2 I have known since I was in 9th grade. We were all roommates at ACU our sophomore year in University Park. That apartment brings back some fun memories! Girls, do you remember the sheet on the wall? I think I'll try to find it and bring it! How funny to read some of those names and comments!

February -

It's has been a long time coming. I know...I have had people tell me to blog, but the honest truth is that our life has been well crazy and every moment is spent and this was a last priority. So, I'll start from today. That is what I do in scrapbooking and blog till I get caught up. :) Hugs to you all.

Christmas was a blessing. Chris learned how to make DVD's. I was really proud of him. He made one of Wyatt's christmas. It was special. We didn't go anywhere this Christmas. We just stayed home and relaxed.

January - Wyatt turned 2. We had a family train party. Wyatt just loves trains. He likes to say woo woo! Just adorable. He also goes to the potty every morning when he gets up and every night when he goes to bed. Then we do a hiney dance. It is just too cute! Something I probably should not have started but oh well. We are going potty! He still loves Mexican food. It is his absolute favorite. He would eat rice and beans at every meal if I let him. He still doesn't talk very much verbally but his signing is amazing. A couple of days ago, he signed excuse me. I was really proud of him. He'll be talking in complete sentences when he gets ready.

School has been hard. My teaching partner was 19 weeks pregnant and lost her baby. So, it has been difficult. Please pray for her and her family.

This past weekend, we had a lady's retreat at our church. It was just amazing. What a blessing to be revitalized in the Lord. I feel like I had a spa for my "mind, body, and soul." This is a great thing because that was the theme. I roomed with my good friend, Rebecca, and we enjoyed a quiet girls time. How special! Maybe the best part was sleeping soundly without interruptions from a little one!

We had our bathrooms tiled this week. This is something that we have always wanted to do, but just never took the time. I also repainted the hall bathroom from red to a brown color. It is more neutral and looks better with the decor of our home. For those of you thinking about painting red it is not on my recommendation list. So, the bathroom is almost finished. Chris has to paint the ceiling edges and add a few touch-ups and it is complete. We are having the carpets cleaned tomorrow and the house cleaned on Friday. So by Friday night, I will have a clean house!

I have also learned how to use a chocolate fountain. I am using it at a shower that I am having at my house this weekend. (Thus having the cleaning of the carpet and house) I'll let you know how the shower goes. :)

Chris also signed up to be on the voluntary layoff at Sprint. We will find out on Feb. 13th if he is granted the layoff. It is possible that they will not let him go, because of his intellectual property. He has been with Sprint 11 years. We just feel that God has a plan for his life, and I know he is ready to do something different. Please pray that God will place him where he needs him and open the doors where God can use him for his service.

Well, lots of random happenings...but that is the update! I'll try to do better blog friends!
